What Now For Real Madrid?

Monday, January 2nd, 2012

Sat. night was the first “clasico” of the Spanish league this season, the clashes between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid that have come to symbolize the centralist view of Spain vs the nation of nations espoused by many Catalans and that in the year have regularly become overheated on the pitch and spilled over into some pretty upsetting scenes.

With FC Barcelona trailing Real Madrid by 3 points regardless of having played an extra match thanks to having to play a match early thanks to the Club World Cup in Japan in December and Real Madrid having a unbelievable string of wins in a row it was looking like Bara’s recent stranglehold might not be so tight.

And having been widely criticised for his pre and post match escapades, Madrid coach Jose Mourinho stayed silent on the topic of the upcoming clash, having maybe realized that his taunts and inflammatory behavior only appeared to make Barcelona’s backbone all the stronger.

Nonetheless in the first 25 seconds of the match something unexpected happened and Real Madrid capitalised on a rare mistake by Victor Valdes allowing their foe to score. This looked to be the kind of nightmare start a few of the people were fearing, not believing that it might be feasible to beat Real Madrid once more in their home stadium.

This early shot across the bows from Madrid seemed to focus the minds of the Barcelona players are they soon got back onto winning form. The game angled in Barcelona’s favour and they were clearly outmanoeuvring Madrid in spite of some robust and dangerous looking counterattacks.

Barcelona equalised after 30 minutes and looked like they were more than back in the game. And in the second half they were shortly in the lead directly to make winning seem like an increasingly likely option. When Barcelona’s 3rd goal was scored it was clear that Madrid could not match the brilliancy of Barcelona and in spite of being in powerful form this season, still not in the same class.

Therefore what now for Real Madrid? How will they regroup as this defeat by Barcelona will have severely dented their confidence. He's already attempted several different methods to beat Barcelona but in the last eight encounters has won just once. So how will Jose Mourinho get ready for the subsequent clasico in April?

Part of the success of FC Barcelona is the youth training scheme. If you want to see them play order FC Barcelona tickets in advance and avoid disappointment.

Investment In Youth Team Behind FC Barcelona’s Success

Sunday, December 11th, 2011

FC Barcelona is a football club found in Catalonia, an autonomous area of Spain. While many folks need independence from Spain, the vast majority are content to remain part of Spain although they wish other communities in the country respected them culture and language more, most vitally from Madrid.

The tensions between FC Barcelona and Madrid are typically demonstrated when their rivalries spill over onto the football field with the teams bitter rivals. Out of all the clubs in Spain they are 2 that are best known, most successful and best funded. The largest difference between them though is the composition of the squads.

While Real Madrid concentrates on spending its substantial financial firepower on signing some of the planet's best players, FC Barcelona has invested heavily in its youth academy and aims to produce lots of its star players in house. Notable Barcelona youngsters include Lionel Messi, Carles Puyol, Andres Iniesta, Victor Valdes, Xavi Hernadez, Gerard Pique and Cesc Fbregas; the majority of the prevailing squad in reality as well as FC Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola.

One of the largest spin offs of this approach is that the players learn how to read their squad very early on. When they come to play for the main team they fit in immediately and can run rings round the opposition thanks to their ability to about mind-read their squad.

Nevertheless that isn’t to say Madrid’s approach does not work. As I write this they're top of the Spanish League with Barcelona one or two points behind after losing their first match of the season. But it remains to be seen whether the enormous amounts needed to get new players are supportable in the long term and other clubs in Europe, most notably Manchester City, have looked closely at the Catalan model to bring up youngsters in the team and play the long-term game.

Simply Barcelona Tickets provides match reports and other news as well as supplying FC Barcelona tickets for la liga and other competitions. When you visit Barcelona make sure you avoid disappointment buy ordering Barcelona tickets in advance.

Will Jose Mourinho survive the 2011-12 season at Real Madrid?

Tuesday, October 18th, 2011

Jose Mourinho is famous for his psychological posturing against opponents in press meetings and frequently comes across as hardly in charge of himself. Having won a major battle at Real Madrid in the dismissal of General manager Jorge Valdano, his hardest internal critic, and thus securing more power for himself as Madrid’s coach this is the season he should deliver the goods.

However , while Madrid started out well and we are just a few matches in, his dream appears to have started to unravel. He has famously stated that his 2nd season in any club is when he delivers, but with his complete focus seeming to be on arch-rival FC Barcelona he has just had 2 massive problems that he can't afford.

First Real Madrid was beaten by Levante, a team that's the polar opposite to Real Madrid, with poorly paid players and a hardly functional team that's fortunate to be in top flight Spanish football. And then they drew with Racing Santander, losing some vital points which they may need in the long run.

A poll by Sporting paper AS which backs Madrid revealed that lots of its readers laid the blame totally at the feet of Mourinho; while looking to shift the blame to referees and opposition players he has failed to take responsibility himself for what many consider a dismal start. And we are starting to hear talk of another crisis year at Real Madrid.

But what proportion of a crisis is it truly, when a team such as Real Madrid comes second in the league after a much superior groups such as Bara? While fans may be disappointed their side is still principally delivering the goods.

Mourinho’s major issue will be the patience of Florentino Perez, Madrid’s president. While he has backed “the special one” so far in his career at Madrid there will be a time when he can snap. Mourinho is Real Madrid’s eleventh coach in seven years, so the club doesn't flinch in making such changes. Can Real Madrid’s fortunes change before that happens?

Thursday, October 13th, 2011

The biggest draw for football fans is Spain’s status as the current football capital of the world. As well as winning the most recent World Cup and European Football Championships, the country is home to two of the most successful football clubs on the planet. Barcelona’s squad is considered by many pundits to be playing the best football the game has ever seen, with star forward Lionel Messi touted as the greatest player yet. If you’re a football fan, combining a football tour of the country with late holiday deals to Costa Dorada holiday resorts makes perfect sense.

Camp Nou, Barcelona’s home stadium has a seating capacity of almost 100,000 and is Europe’s biggest all-seated stadium. Visitors can get tickets for the Camp Nou Experience and explore the stadium’s fascinating zones such as the president’s box and press area. As well as looking around the museum which contains the club memorabilia, interesting video displays and the impressive trophy collection, you’re also allowed to walk through the player’s tunnel out onto the Barcelona pitch. After visiting Camp Nou on last minute Costa Dorada holidays, reward the family for your indulgence by driving them to the gorgeous beaches on the coast which are only 90 minutes down the road.

One of the most well-known stadiums in Europe is Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu. It was designed and constructed more than half a century ago by architect Jose Castell and sits right in the centre of Spain’s lively capital city. On match days up to 80,000 supporters stream through its gates to see the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo work their magic on the field. It’s possible to buy an all-access ticket which allows you to have a tour of the stadium, view the locker rooms and walk through the tunnel to get a prodigious view of the arena. Real Madrid’s true foe isn’t FC Barcelona – it’s the rest of the Spanish League

Wednesday, October 12th, 2011

It's a funny old game is soccer, or “soccer” as it is more usually known in North America. You only need to take a look at some of the recent ends in the Spanish League, where sour rivals FC Barcelona and real Madrid are slugging it out, in spite of not actually facing one another for the 1st time until December.

While both groups began well, FC Barcelona slipped when what should have been a fairly comfortable win against Real Sociedad turned into a draw. And just when they needed something to show they hadn't lost that special something they once more drew, this time against AC Milan in the Champs League, thanks to an injury time goal before the final whistle.

Critics instantly laid into FC Barcelona, asserting they’d lost their touch; 2 mediocre results is all it takes to call a crisis. Nevertheless they responded with an 8-0 win against Osasuna, their best result since the 90s, straight away silencing their critics again.

While it looked rosy for Barcelona, things suddenly went extremely wrong for Real Madrid. While they had won their first two matches and sat at the head of the classifications they then lost 1-0 against Levante, a team that should hardly be in the first division such is its poor state.

This is supposed to be Real Madrid’s year, the second season under Jose Mourinho. But you can’t help thinking that his total focus on what Barcelona are doing is his best weakness. Fielding an under-strength squad against Levante showed large arrogance, that’s for sure.

But what will lose Real Madrid the league again this season isn’t what FC Barcelona does or doesn't do. It is down to how many points Real Madrid can gain, making absolutely sure that they beat teams like Levante and all the rest of the clubs at the bottom of La Liga. If Mourinho is to bring the success that Real Madrid craves he must shift his focus, fast.

You can order FC Barcelona tickets for la liga and get the latest FC Barcelona news from Simply Barcelona Tickets.
