Great start to 2011-2011 season for FC Barcelona

Tuesday, September 13th, 2011

FC Barcelona made an impressive start to the 2011-2012 season with a 5-0 win over Villarreal. While Real Madrid are top of the table after their own 6-0 win, it was against Zaragoza instead of a fellow Champions League contender.

The Spanish League got off to a late start after the first round was deferred due to a strike by the players’ organisation. A considerable number of clubs in the top two divisions are in administration and dozens of players have not received salaries as a consequence. The action against the league was to make them put into place measures that would guarantee payment or permit the players to end their contracts and transfer to a club that could afford to pay them.

In the final analysis the first match of the season didn't occur and for some considerable time it seemed like the second match also wouldn't take place either. Nevertheless the 2 sides reached an impulsive compromise and so it was that week two was played. Week one has been put off to Jan, when the second half of the season was due to start, with that match now taking place in May.

Barcelona of course played for two more major trophies. First there was the Spanish Supercup, this year against Real Madrid. Madrid’s coach managed to be as petulant as always and bad feelings spilled over onto the pitch with 1 or 2 red cards awarded at the end of the match yet again.

At the end Barcelona took that prize and then the EU Supercup, against Porto, which was way more friendly. Apart from that they played Napoli in the Gamper Prize. And one of the top items of FC Barcelona stories is that Cesc Fabregas is now on board, who has quickly fallen into place and added to the goal total.

Experience The Thrill Of Barça: FC Barcelona Tickets Online

Saturday, July 2nd, 2011

When you approach the stadium on match days there is a real buzz in the air with fans of all ages making their way to the all-seater stadium, the famous Nou Camp, which can hold up to 98,000 spectators. Football is family entertainment in Spain and the fans may consist of die hard supporters in the 20s, middle-aged couples, grandparents with their grandchildren, kids birthday parties – you can see it all. So, make sure you have bought FC Barcelona tickets before you go!

And when the match kicks off that excitement spills over and becomes uncontained. The passion and excitement create an atmosphere that is electric – and if you’re a football fan going to see Barça play is a must, particularly at the moment with such a great and successful team.

The 2010-11 season was an extraordinary one for FC Barcelona despite not achieving the treble of 2009 – the Copa del Rey went to arch rival Real Madrid instead.

As I write this the season is over and we’re counting down the (many) days until the season gets going again and the transfer window is open.

I’m sure though that one of the reason’s for such success lies in the World Cup win for Spain in South Africa in 2010. The squad was made up of a core of Barça players, who must surely have started the 2010/11 season fired up from that win.

That translated into win after win with a huge goal tally and even Real Madrid, a team never to be underestimated, was demolished against the might of Barcelona, who completely humiliated them with a 5-0 win at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium in November.
For a time scoring 5 goals seemed to be par for the course but they peaked with an 8-0 awaqy win against Almerica. Of course that kind of run could not last, but it does show how much Barcelona dominated the season.

Barcelona’s success is at least partially due to their high possession that comes from knowing each other’s play intimately and extremely high levels of fitness. Their game is beautiful to match, consisting of pass after pass while they control the pace and position of the ball; and when an opportunity opens up it is the trinity of Xavi, Iniesta and Messi that often makes things happen.

He can create moments of pure magic, whether they work out or not and always makes entertaining football. And while Carles Puyol has been out for some time due to injury he has recently undergone further surgery and expected to recover within 2 months, well in time for the start of the 2011/12 season.

Naturally Barcelona’s fans are appreciative of all that. Matches often take place in a party like atmosphere as great play and hopefully great results melt away everyone’s problems in life into the background for the 90 minutes of play for what for some is a quasi religious experience. If you’d like to experience the same you can buy FC Barcelona tickets online in advance. That way you avoid disappointment and get to see one of the best football teams in the world today.

Why You Should Buy FC Barcelona Tickets For La Liga 2011/2012

Friday, June 24th, 2011

In this article we’re going to take a look at why you should visit the beautiful Mediterranean city of Barcelona to coincide with the Spanish League season 2011-2012 and order FC Barcelona tickets in advance to see one of the best football teams in the world.

The top two teams in Europe faced each other at the end of May 2011 for the final of the Champions League, which took place at Wembley. However, FC Barcelona completely dominated the match and although they took the first 10 minutes of the match to get into their stride they beat Manchester United 3-1.

How long can Barça stay at he top of their game?

However, it is uncertain how much longer Pep Guardiola will want to stay at Barça and whether a Barça squad under a new coach will be able to perform to the standard they currently display.

Guardiola is thoroughly Barça as he played in Johan Cruyff’s “Dream Team” and coached the Barça B team before being offered the job of coaching the main squad. While he may have ties to the club that go deep, he has already stated that he wouldn’t want to stay at any club too long, pointing out Sir Alex Ferguson as an example; he’s been at Man Utd for 25 years.

It is therefore perfectly understandable for Pep Guardiola to want to look for challenges outside the club, somewhere where he can apply his considerable managerial talents to built up a team and give them the same kind of winning streak he has done while Barça’s coach. Next season, which starts in August 2011, running through to May 2012, could well be, therefore, Pep Guardiola’s last with FC Barcelona. It could also be the last opportunity to see them play as the best team of the world as a change in the coach could be the end of their current domination.

For your chance to see one of the best Barça squads ever order FC Barcelona tickets in advance. While the Spanish League won’t be drawn until July there are two clasicos coming up when Barça faces Real Madrid in the Spanish Supercup in August – keep an eye out for tickets.

Barcelona Football Tickets

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

For the last few years under the club presidency of Joan Laporta, FC Barcelona has really been at the top of their game. First of all under Frank Rijkaard, and when his star waned, Pep Guardiola, the club that had languished for so many years regained its spark and started to win trophies all over the place.

While Rijkaard’s achievements were fantastic enough, Pep Guardiola made sure nobody was going to forget him fast, with the Spanish League, King’s Cup and Champions League all taken in his first year.

His second year wasn’t quite so good, but FC Barcelona still retained the La Liga trophy, in a hard fought battle to the end against Real Madrid. But while both teams seemed to be in a different competition entirely to the rest of the Spanish first division clubs, Real Madrid’s achievement wasn’t good enough for fans or directors and the coach unceremoniously dumped – once again.

With the World Cup in everyone’s mind at the moment 2010 is an exciting time to be involved in football, whether it’s at club level or watching on TV. And that passion is sure to translate into more demand for Barcelona football tickets as it does each year at this time. The Spanish fixture list is drawn in July and ticket sales from official Barça agents follow shortly after.

Naturally the “big one” is El Clasico against Real Madrid. The match is hyped up beyond belief throughout Spain and it is certainly one of the biggest in European football. The arch-rivals watch each other closely, waiting for the other to drop some points.

The result of this is a packed stadium, with the 98,000 places in the Nou Camp all taken and the “cules” – Barça supporters – giving it all they’ve got at the top of their voices.

If you are in Barcelona when El Clasico takes place be sure you don’t miss it and book your tickets for FC Barcelona in advance.

Victor Valdés – Stars Of FC Barcelona

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

FC Barcelona Tickets

Victor Valdés is one of those players that supporters always hold especially close to their hearts – the local lad playing for his ‘own’ team. A true Catalan and a Barça fanatic, Valdés signed for the club in 1992 – at 10 years of age – and has worked his way through to the first team, making the goalkeeper’s spot his own – to see his extraordinary talent you can buy FC Barcelona Tickets online.

Valdés, like his Real Madrid opposite number, Iker Casillas, made his way through the youth ranks at the club and was given the opportunity of first team football perhaps earlier than might have been expected.

In fact, stepping up to the first team for the 2002-2003 season, Valdés became a regular in his second year – in place of Turkish keeper, Rustu Recber. The next season saw Valdés awarded the Zamora Trophy – annually awarded to the goalie with the best statistical record in the Spanish League.

In his early days, Valdés was subject to considerable media criticism. Clearly lacking experience and showing reluctance to leave his goal line or really command his defenders, many people thought he was the weakest link of the Barcelona team. Gradually, however, he won over his critics. Internationally, he is best known for two fabulous saves from current team mate Thierry Henry when FC Barcelona beat Arsenal in the Champions’ league Final of 2006.

It was the 2005 – 2006 season in general that ensured Valdés was accepted more by the football pundits of Spain as well as the Barcelona supporters. Helping the team win the outstanding double of Champions’ League and La Liga, Valdés truly came of age, with some memorable performances.

One of his strongest assets has always been his temperment – which allowed him to quickly put aside the inevitable mistakes goalkeepers make and get on with the job at all times. He continues to develop his reputation and to pass new milestones.

Although, of course, Barcelona fans, los culos, adore the goalscoring exploits of Messi, they always reserve a very special welcome for Victor Valdés – they feel that he is ‘their’ representative in the team – the local lad made good.

Victor Valdés would certainly be a hard act to follow in the eyes of the FC Barcelona faithful.
