Sir Alex Ferguson To Buy Marek Hamsik

Monday, December 28th, 2009

Midfielder Marek Hamsik it appears, has caught the attention of Alex Ferguson for the January transfer window.

The form of veteran former England midfielder Paul Scholes, plus the fact that Ryan Giggs is not getting any younger has convinced Sir Alex Ferguson of the need to bring in a top notch quality replacement to bolster what is perceived by some critics to be United’s biggest weakness, midfield.

Manchester is not alone in regards to Hamsik, both Chelsea and Liverpool rivals have shown interest in the star midfielder. Snapped up by Brescia after proving his skill with Slovan Bratislava. Transferring to Napoli for 5.5m Euros after dominating the midfield at Brescia scoring 10 goals from the midfield.

Since joining Napoli in 2007, Hamsik’s efforts in Serie A have established him as one of the best midfielders in the world. Managing to score 25 goals in 81 games Hamsik’s form has been some of the best in the league. Recently Hamsik scored twice as Napoli recorded their first win over Juventus in Turin for 21 years and his performances have impressed many experts in Italy, who have been quick to label the Slovakian international as the best midfielder in Serie A.

Hamsik’s performances have been equally impressive for his national side, Slovakia. Expected to be one of the major stars of the upcoming World Cup his efforts might put him down into soccer history forever.

Interest and a big offer from major teams may not be enough however with sporting director Riccardo Bigon stating:

“Manchester United are after Hamsik? If we rejected the rumours regarding a friend like [Carlo] Ancelotti and his Chelsea, it is obvious we also reject these rumours.”

These comments have since been substantiated by Napoli chairman Aurielo De Laurentiis who confirmed:

“Many clubs have requested Hamsik, it’s true, but he will stay with us for the long-term”

Whether in Summer, Napoli maintain the same comments is yet to be seen. Napoli’s short budget will defiantly play a factor in their decision to keep Hamsik or to sell him if a good offer is made.

One factor which could scupper any deal however is Chelsea. Roman Abramovich has purportedly given manager Carlo Ancelotti the green light to make a £25m move for the player so they might beat Manchester United to the punch

More expensive packages are still on the market, but you need to act quickly, since the tournament is scheduled to begin on June 11th and last until July 11th

All nine World Cup host cities have airports nearby, including South African Express which travels to 13 South African domestic destinations, Airlink is a regional carrier that is growing, Kulula is a budget airline and travels to several host cities such as Cape Town and Durban, Mango airlines which flies to Johannesburg,  Cape Town, Pretoria and Bloemfontein-all host cities, Venture Air which flies to Johannesburg and Cape Town and 1Time, which is another regional low cost carrier.

Your travel agent should also include this in your world cup packages because the number of cars available for rent are limited.Licensed taxis, coaches, shuttles and regular buses are all being pressed into service to accommodate the more than 3 million football fans expected to arrive in South Africa during the tournament.

Don’t despair if you don’t have tickets to a match. You will still be able to feel the atmosphere in 10 fan parks to be set up near the stadiums. In fact it is anticipated that more people will watch the games from the fan parks rather than within the stadiums. Ask your World Cup travel agent to supply you with a map of the various fan parks. You will be pleased that you did. Enjoy the party, but don’t get too drunk as police will deny access to anyone exhibiting bizarre or drunken behavior around the stadiums or fan parks.

Prior to leaving for the 2010 World Cup

Monday, December 28th, 2009

Millions of football fans will descend on South Africa during the month of June in order to attend the world largest sporting event, having booked one of the many world cup packages that are currently on offer. The 2010 World Cup will take place between June11th and July 11th, spread among nine host cities including Johannesburg, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth to name just a few. However there are a few things you have to know before you board your plane. First off, you will need a passport to enter South Africa. You won't, however, need a visa unless you intend to stay for more than ninety days. Your passport must also remain valid for at least 30 days after you pland to leave South Africa.

Planning your trip early and using a reputable and registered travel agent will allow you get the best deals that you r money can buy. Locating these world cup packages will take a little patience and homework but it will be worth it in the end. In fact, with the World Cup it is better to book everything in advance to eliminate the hassle for when you get there. Booking in advance leaves you able to enjoy all the festivities of the tournament without any stress. The World Cup will play during South Africa's winter season, so it will be cool and rainy depending on which area you happen to spend time in. Think climate similar to that found in California in the USA or in Southwestern Australia in the land down under.

Transportation between the nine host cities will be either by high speed rail, rapid transit bus, taxi or rental car. Rental cars should be booked in advance in order to guarantee one for when you need it. Tell your travel agent to make the reservation. Research the local driving regulations and insurance rules if you plan to drive. However, if you decide to use a taxi ask the desk clerk at your hotel which firm is trustworthy and licensed.Beware of buying tickets once you land because they may be invalid or counterfeit. Check any tickets with the official ticketing center to ensure your tickets are the real McCoy or fake. The government of South Africa and FIFA have put into place a zero tolerance policy outlawing racism and xenophobia. Fans who are very intoxicated will not be allowed inside the stadiums or fan parks outside the stadiums.

3 Basic Exercises to Increase Your Vertical Jump

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

So you want to know some good vertical jumping exercises? There are quite a few out there. These will provide you a good basis to start from. Ensure that you follow the movements correctly. Many people perform the right exercises, but they don’t do them correctly. Add these three exercises to your vertical training and you will be well on your way to adding major inches to your vertical.

You may assume the only muscles you need to work on during your vertical jumping workouts are your leg muscles, but that’s not the case. Your lower back and erector muscles need to be strong as well. Many of the back muscles are heavily involved and require strengthening as well. Vertical jumping exercises should include working on this area. So let’s get started with our first exercise.

Dead Lifts

Dead lifts are great. Remembering to attempt to keep you back as upright as possible, bend your knees and grasp down and grab the barbell. Come to an erect position while holding the bar. Slowly return the barbell back to the starting position on the floor. The first 3 sets of 6-8 reps should be done quickly but steadily to avoid injury. Take a brief rest after these first 3 sets. Execute one extra set taking your time and being more deliberate.

Leg Presses

A subsequent exercise that can help improve your vertical jump is leg presses. Set the weight on the machine to a weight suitable for you. Position your feet high and away from you. Lower the weight until your thighs almost contact your chest. Then thrust the weight back up in an explosive method. It’s not about the slow and steady here. You need to practice the explosive move to get the most out of the muscles you will use when jumping. Repeat this exercise six times – and execute five sets. Take a short break between each set.

Medicine Ball

Lastly, utilize a heavy medicine ball in place of a basketball. Acting as if you are trying to dunk the ball, leap with the medicine ball in the direction of the rim. Make certain to stretch your reach and try to get the ball as high as you can. Practicing this exercise helps all the muscles necessary for this movement to become strong. Remember to push yourself to the max.

These three exercises are only three of many that can help increase your vertical leap and learn how to jump higher. Combine these with more jumping exercises. Keep in mind that correct form is just as critical as the weight and the quantity of reps.
