Practice makes a man perfect is something that each of us is aware of. And it’s true when it comes to soccer practice sessions. The kids enter the ground everyday with a hope to try something exciting and new. Yet, it is extremely important in soccer training that they keep practicing old techniques that you teach them regularly.
So the challenge before you is to ensure that monotony does not set in despite the kids practicing a few identical drills everyday. Given below are certain tricks that’ll allow you to execute practice sessions in a disciplined, expected, and an attractive way.
1. Does this need more emphasis? You are the kid’s instructor and therefore they will imitate your actions. Be present on the filed before the kids; demonstrate your skill with the ball, let all the kids participate, and arrange sessions ahead of time. This way you can get the player’s attention, their respect and trust.
2. The kids should be instructed to get to the field everyday with their own ball. Every kid is necessarily required to have a soccer ball. But have a few extra balls ready in case the kids forget to carry theirs.
3. There are some soccer moves which require regular practice. Kicking, passing, dribbling, throw-ins are the essential elements of soccer practice. It is imperative that kids practice these on a daily basis. Ensure that everyone participates in it even though some may show lack of enthusiasm initially.
4. Initiate games more than soccer drills in your practice sessions. The reason is that games require much more stamina and dexterity in contrast to drills. Plus, it becomes easier to try out new things as well as concentrate on soccer with games.
5. Order is very important to be successful for a team. With kids, it is almost certain that you will have issues. You must curb all instances of indiscipline no matter how small or big. But do it prudently and with the fact in mind that kids need special counseling.
6. During the training session, you will observe that there are some players who do not participate in the drill. Make certain that this does not take place. All the players should join the action in some way or the other. Tell each player his position on the field and then make them accountable for it.
7. Do not make them scrimmage a lot. Ideally, it should not be more than 15 to 20 minutes at the end of each session. And do not work with a goalie while scrimmaging. This will help the team build its defensive skills.
8. Keep your eyes open for new ways to conduct trainings. This is the most recommended way of keeping the students interested in the training sessions.
